The Laie Beach Retreat has the following nearby amenities including: the Laie Shopping Center with a Foodland grocery store, movie theater, video rental, a few casual restaurants, post office and banking.  Golf enthusiasts can play at the nearby public Kahuku oceanfront golf course or the private Turtle Bay course.  Local favorite restaurants and food stands/shacks include the Hukilau Cafe, Kahuku Sweet Corn roadside stands, and the famous shrimp shacks/trucks.

Laie is located on the northeastern tip of Oahu between Kahuku and Hauula.  It is home to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Mormon Temple and the Brigham Young University Hawaii campus.   Laie Bay is considered one of the best beaches on Oahu and provides swimming, fishing, snorkeling, surfing, boating, and windsurfing.      Great bodysurfing is found at Pounder's beach, south of the Polynesian Cultural Center.  The surrounding mountains offer several hikes.

Temple Information:

Location:  55-600 Naniloa Loop; Laie, Hawaii; United States;  Ph.: 808-293-2427
Site:  Formerly a 6,000-acre plantation purchased by the Church in 1865 as a gathering place for the Hawaiian Saints. The 11.4 acres upon which the temple now stands is part of this original property.
Exterior Finish:  Concrete made of native crushed lava rock and coral, reinforced with steel. It is dressed by pneumatic stone cutting tools to produce a white cream finish.
Temple Design:  Suggestive of the ancient temples found in South America—shaped like a Grecian cross with no tower.
Number of Rooms:  Three ordinance rooms and six sealing.
Total Floor Area:  47,224 square feet.
