the laie beach retreat has the following nearby amenities including: the laie shopping center with a foodland grocery store, movie theater, video rental, a few casual restaurants, post office and banking.  golf enthusiasts can play at the nearby public kahuku oceanfront golf course or the private turtle bay course.  local favorite restaurants and food stands/shacks include the hukilau cafe, kahuku sweet corn roadside stands, and the famous shrimp shacks/trucks.

laie is located on the northeastern tip of oahu between kahuku and hauula.  it is home to the polynesian cultural center, mormon temple and the brigham young university hawaii campus.   laie bay is considered one of the best beaches on oahu and provides swimming, fishing, snorkeling, surfing, boating, and windsurfing.      great bodysurfing is found at pounder's beach, south of the polynesian cultural center.  the surrounding mountains offer several hikes.
